The Adventure Begins

The first days of full-time travel in a truck camper are a mix of excitement and adjustment—navigating new routines, embracing freedom, and marveling at the endless possibilities of the open road.

With our house emptied out, and the truck camper stuffed full of last minute things, we hit the road. Yea, we couldn’t even walk in the camper.

Our first stop begins with a stop at the Uranus Fudge Factory near St. David, MO. We have passed this place several times in the past and there always seems to be quite a few vehicles in the parking lot. So let’s stop and see what we’ve been missing.

We took a stroll through the general store, which contained just about every type of trinket and piece of clothing, all decorated with jokes related to uranus. Even the person serving up the fudge is called a fudge packer. Next door was a museum containing a collection of oddities and artifacts from freakshows, sideshows and circuses of the past.

Next was the ice cream shop, which was closed. But the “dead” band was on stage and we got to see the “world’s largest belt buckle. So we got that going for us. Time to move on.

We found a hotel and spent our first night full-time traveling in a our new camper in a hotel. We would regroup tomorrow.
